Caroline, Napoleon’s little sister and Josephine, his 1st wife did not get along…

… even though Josephine had done the favor of approving Caroline’s marriage.  Caroline went to school with Josephine’s daughter by another marriage, Hortense.  None of the women liked each other, because each thought Napoleon favored the other.

Note the use of coral in these 1805-1807 ensembles.  These tiaras and ornaments are still passed down through royal families today.
