Unfortunately, within weeks after the attack, 25,000 French soldiers died of yellow fever. Most of the remaining defected because the French had abolished slavery, and they sided with those in favor of it.
Of the remaining approximate 2000 soldiers left in Saint Domingue, Pauline, claiming she was “bored”, became known as the “Bacchus”.. had sex with many, many of them.
