Jerome Bonaparte’s wife Catherine of Wurttemburg left a legacy…

.. for her children continued the royal lines of France and Russia even though the Bonaparte empire was dissolved and Catherina and Jerome were forced into exile along with the rest of the family.

Catherine and Jerome had 3 children:

  • Napoleon Charles Bonaparte: served in the army of his uncle King William I of Wurttemburg
  • Princess Mathilde Bonaparte: actively served the arts and letters during the 2nd French Republic
  • Napoleon Joseph Charles Paul Bonaparte: advisor to his cousin Napoleon II and an advocate of French Royalists in Italy
