Beatriz, daughter of Ena and Alfonso of Spain, granddaughter of Queen…

… Victoria of England became the wife of Alessandro Torlonia, 5th Prince di Civitella-Cesi.  She was the paternal aunt of King Juan Carlos.

Infanta Beatriz spoke English, French, and Spanish.  The children spoke English with their Mother (who was English), and Spanish with their father (who was Spanish.

Beatriz and her 2 year younger sister Maria Cristina, wanted to go to private schools with their friends who were children of nobility, but following Spanish tradition, they were educated by governesses and private tutors.

They studied language, history, religion, piano, and dance.  Because their parents placed great importance on outdoor exercise, Beatriz loved sports and became an excellent swimmer.  She played tennis and golf and loved horseback riding in the palace gardens.
