.. the Rise of new colonial empires – bringing war and war technologies. When you research any person or event anywhere in the world during the 175 years we study, there is always some country trying to take over some other country.
With France and England through much of this at the head of fashion, the focus on Napoleon of France’s attempt at world domination, and England’s wars in Afroeurasia, it becomes mind boggling. The most confusing of all is how many times the United States went back and forth on control of Cuba.
Even the people of the time were confused, as illustrated in the War of 1812, when the US and England kept fighting over northeastern boundaries of the US, even after they had long been established – whoops.
