… Rachel joins us as one of the youngest members of “The Buffalo Gals” hired interpreters. She will be depicting an 1892 housemaid from Red Lodge, Wyoming, who works for a wealthy Victorian rancher. The character will “grow up” parallel to her own life, as she possibly leaves home, gets educated, becomes a working woman, falls in love, marries, and then depicts a whole new character (at which time we’ll have to make new clothes!).
We’re excited to do the research development because it takes us into the realm of maids, nurses, and working women for which there is little knowledge. We love to have characters that reflect the background, interest, and passions of “The Gals” themselves, and of course select patterns, fabrics, and notions that they love too.
Welcome aboard, Rachel!
Check out Rachel’s and all the “Buffalo Gals” web pages as research, design, construction, and performances are documented as they happen.
