.. in the arms of her beloved husband in 1810. He refused to remarry, but did so 14 years later for political reasons. Frederick eventually remarried and had more children.
Pictured here is Helene Luise Elisabeth of Mecklenburg, the granddaughter of Frederick through his 2nd marriage. Her father was the eldest son and heir of Frederick.
Helene became the crown princess of Frances in 1837 when she married Ferdinand Phillippe of Orleans. Helene’s descendants are the current “pretenders” (royalty next in line for the thrones) of France, Italy, Spain, and Belgium. In this Luise’s heritage continues through her family.
Luise’s own line continues through her children directly in Russia, Germany, and France today.
