Silhouettes is excited to expand our product line to include custom made, historically correct designed, heavy buckram (and straw, wool) bonnets! The key to this success is lead Milliner, Shelly Jackson.
Shelly is from Reno, Nevada, with two great kids and three great dogs. She has a true passion for buckram and wire historical and fantasy framework, and is constantly learning and expanding her repertoire.
Featured in the Cheshire Cat Fashion Show
This homeschooling mom travels to Steampunk Conventions where she brainstorms wild ideas at the kitchen table with her engineer husband. When they are not playing dress-up, Shelly helps run the High Desert Steam cosplaying group.
Fantasy buckram creations by Shelly
She has taught at Copper Cat Studio, Sew Together, and at many conventions and expos in the Nevada region. Her work is featured in many local stores and galleries.
Shelly would rather be in the fabric store or workshop than at an art show though, or better yet, surrounded by friends talking about their art and collaborating on large collections.
Original designs based on history
Silhouettes is proud to have this expertise added, and have discovered already that Shelly is an enthusiastic artist who takes great pride in the quality of her work. Look for her designs particularly in the 1860-1890 product pages from 2021 forward, as we hope to fill a void in the market for those fabulous trimmed vertical bonnets and stovepipes of the 1880’s for our customers.
