Completely Customized just for You
All costumes can be made complete with all undergarments & structures, or… as individual pieces.
Choose the construction method:
A) AUTHENTIC HISTORIC – designed to FEEL like your character ! We research actual persons to design specific cultural, geographical, political, or other factors including personality & preferences to develop a completely unique and individual ensemble.
- HISTORIC uses extant (real-garment) based patterns, historic methods of construction including hand or machine sewing as era dictates, original fabrics & notions, and as close to authentic structures & materials available.
- HISTORIC is highly recommended for those who will be living and working in their costumes for extended times, and those who will be giving educational performances where there will be “show and tell” of the garments (especially undergarments) & their history
B) THEATRICAL REPRODUCTION – to LOOK like your character! We research & design for your character, and use prototypes of the era & select representational fabrics, notions, & materials from modern sources that will appear to be like those in history.
- THEATRICAL uses modern patterns & methods in combination with some historical to hand build your ensemble. The difference between this and Historic is that we may use closures & modern materials that would not have been available, plus modern methods for corsetry that modifies designs for comfort for modern performers.
- THEATRICAL will cost approximately 1/4 that of an historic costume, depending on materials used (e.g. silks will be much more either method). They are best for special events where comfort and outward appearance are key.
All designs are original & developed alongside the customer, using customer inspiration & sources such as photos, sketches, or other costumes. While some materials may be imported due to limited availability of historic sources, all design & construction is done in the US at our shops in Wyoming.
We work with other Wyoming specialists for products such as understructures, fur, leather, milliner, & footwear on a referral or cooperative basis.
